What’s Open and When?

The province has outlined a three step re-opening plan. The province entered step three on Friday, July 16, 2021. Western will remain in each step for at least 21 days and progress to the next step will occur only if vaccination thresholds and other key public health indicators have been met.

As we prepare for a full return to in-person classes this fall, we updated the campus community on how Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen will impact Western’s operations over the summer months on June 11. 

Western Libraries

No-contact pick-up and digital delivery services remain available. Taylor Library will reopen on August 9 to provide access to computers, printing, and study space. Weldon Library remains closed for onsite visits until October for construction of the new Learning Commons.

Campus Eateries

The Grad Club is open for takeout and patio dining from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays. Tables of six permitted on the patio starting July 16.

The Spoke Cafe is open for takeout and delivery from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Campus Recreation

Indoor facilities at the Western Student Recreation Centre will begin to reopen on July 26 with capacity limits and physical distancing in place (gym, weight room, etc.).

Indigenous Student Centre

The physical space will be accessible as of August 2, 2021. WeStudents can access the Western Student Services Building (WSSB) and our centre in Room 2100 (across from the elevators). All new and returning students are encouraged to keep their student cards on hand at all times and to ensure that you have registered with Indigenous Student Centre to gain swipe card access to the space.


Complimentary parking is available in most campus parking lots until September 1. Parking permit holders will not be charged for May through August. For more information, visit  www.uwo.ca/parking .

Student Health Care Clinic

Student Health Care is open, however, only those with an in-person appointment scheduled should visit University Community Centre (UCC) Room 11.

Students must pre-book clinic visits by calling 519-661-3030. Patients of the Staff/Faculty Family Practice Clinic must pre-book clinic visits by calling 519-661-2047.

Physicians continue to provide virtual visits via telephone. All visits need to be booked in advance. For up-to-date clinic hours of operation or to book an appointment, visit the Student Health Care website.

COVID-19 Testing

Western's COVID-19 testing centre will reopen on July 26 in the Graphic Services Building.

Between June 26 and July 25, the campus community is encouraged to visit one of the London Assessment Centres for a COVID-19 test.

Any registered student and current employee with an active Western username and password can book an appointment using the online booking tool.Testing days and hours are updated regularly, please visit the COVID-19 Testing on Campus page.

Student Health Care Clinic: Symptomatic patients requiring a physician's assessment can book a virtual visit with a doctor. Follow-up examination and testing in person may be scheduled at the doctor's discretion, which may include a COVID-19 test. To book an appointment, please call the Student Health Care Clinic at 519-661-3030.

Student Central/Office of the Registrar

Student Central is available by chat and email from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Starting July 19 until August 13, in-person service in the Western Student Services Building is available 12 to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. As of August 16, in-person service is available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 12 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Book Store & The Tech Hub 

The Book Store at Western and the The Tech Hub (formerly Campus Computer Store) will reopen for in-person shopping beginning Monday, July 5 with capacity limits and enhanced safety measures. Shipping within Canada and internationally is available for online orders. Order processing is currently 1-3 business days.
