We are excited to welcome you back

Hello Western students,
The start of a new school year is upon us, and it’s fair to say this fall will be different than any other in Western’s history.
Many experiences will look and feel different – but we will get through it with the kindness, patience and respect for one another that we’ve already seen from Western students.
Whether you’re studying remotely or returning to campus, we are all in this together and we are excited to welcome you back – we’ve missed you. We know you have many questions about what this year will look like.
If you’re learning at a distance, there are a number of online resources and remote supports available to you.
And if you’re heading back to campus, there are important changes on campus that will help keep our community safe.
But we do need your help.
The health and safety of our campus is a shared responsibility. We must take thoughtful and persistent steps to take care of ourselves, each other, and our community.
Please visit takecare.westernu.ca to review the steps you can take before and once on campus, and to share your commitment to keeping our community safe. We want to highlight some important information and steps that you will need to take as you return to campus.
Before Coming to Campus
All students must complete the Return to Campus Covid-19 Questionnaire prior to each visit to the Western, King’s, Brescia or Huron campuses.
All students must bring their Western ONECard to class and scan it prior to entry.
When Visiting Campus
All students are required to wear non-medical masks or face coverings indoors in the presence of others, this includes classrooms and any area where physical distancing is a challenge. Western is supplying every student with washable Western-branded masks.
Masks and Western ONECards can be picked up at the Great Hall (Somerville House) until September 18 everyday between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Great Hall will remain open over the Labour Day long weekend.
Find out more information about where you can eat on campus.
Managing your Social Circle
Western encourages you to create a social circle of up to 10 friends and family to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is important to practice physical distancing with anyone who isn’t part of your social circle.
• Off-campus gatherings of more than 50 people indoors, or 100 people outdoors are not safe at this time. Please consider this and be sure to remain at least 2m apart when interacting with anyone on or off-campus that is not within your social circle.
We believe in you and your commitment to the Western community. We want you to be successful and safe, and we trust you do too. We hope you understand that we all have to do our part and take these precautionary measures to safely navigate our return to campus.
We can’t wait to welcome you back.
